The company
Concrete Mystique Engraving has been turning plain grey concrete into engraved, stained and hand-finished surfaces across Nashville and Middle Tennessee for over twenty years. We work on the slab you already own, we pour new when the slab is past saving, and an artist draws every design before a blade touches it.

How we work
An artist owns the company, and it shows
Most decorative concrete is a catalogue pattern pressed into a slab. Ours is drawn for your site by a designer with a masters in painting, cut by a crew that has been doing this for two decades, and coloured by hand. That is the whole difference, and you can see it from the street.
- An artist draws it before a saw touches itRick Lobdell took a BA in fine art and philosophy and an MFA in painting before he ever picked up a grinder. Every design starts as a drawing, scaled to your slab and to the way the space is actually used, which is why the work does not look like a catalogue pattern dropped onto concrete.
- We pour our own concreteWe run a concrete pouring crew in house rather than subcontracting it out. That matters because the surface underneath decides what the finish can do. When we control the pour, we know the slab is right before any design goes onto it, and there is nobody to point at if it is not.
- We look at the site before we price itWe do not quote decorative concrete over the phone, and we will not pretend otherwise. The condition of your existing concrete changes the price and the method more than the square footage does. The visit is free, takes about an hour, and you get a straight answer about what the slab will and will not take.

Decorative concrete is a trade full of people who bought a stamp mat last year. We have been doing this out of Antioch since 2006, we hold twenty-eight industry awards for it, and the work has been shown at World of Concrete and on Tennessee Crossroads.
That matters because this is a finish you cannot undo cheaply. Getting the surface preparation, the colour and the sealer right the first time is the entire job.
